Many people thru-hike the Appalachian Trail at a turning point in their lives. They've graduated from college, or gotten divorced, or retired. For me, hiking the trail was the turning point. It was the first time I'd actually pursued a dream instead of just talking about it. It was the first time I'd put my writing out in public, as I had dozens of people receiving my trip reports by email. It was the first time I'd really, really, challenged myself. I learned so much on that hike, and it changed my life.

I really want to do a 2-3 day hike on the trail. Not sure if I'm up for hiking the entire thing though. It is beautiful country along the Appalachians

I would love to do the same. It's been a long time since I went hiking. Now, I really want to go. Now we are just under a blanket of snow sitting tight.

I'm thinking I need a good long hike, but this isn't the season for it. I hope I can hold out until spring.
